One Hyde Park, London
One Hyde Park offers multi-million pound apartments in the heart of Knightsbridge,
London, and has been described as “the most expensive piece of
real estate in the world”. It is located on the prestigious site
of the old Bowater House, a 1960s office block, opposite Harvey Nichols
and adjacent to The Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Wooldridge has a long-standing
partnership with Expanded, the construction arm of Laing O’Rourke,
and was awarded the £1.5m contract after submitting a competitive
tender.
Wooldridge removed 60,000m3 of waste soils from the Bowater House
site during its demolition as well as removed waste spoil from the piling
and basement excavation. Due to the location of Wooldridge’s disposal
point, it was able to move large quantities of waste soils on a daily
basis. All the waste soils were re-used for the construction of a driving
range at Stockley Park, Heathrow.
Working with Wooldridge meant that
the rigorous build programme—with huge damages for failure to complete
on time—could be met by Expanded. Using a small number of low-emission
vehicles, Wooldridge also supported the environmental audits that Expanded
has to carry out at all its sites and minimised congestion in one of
the busiest parts of central London.
